THIS POUCH IS JUST LIKE A "KEN SCOTT"

Here's an interesting story I'd like to pass on to you.

I was recently set up at one of the largest trade shows in the country. It was early on a Sunday morning when the gentleman walked by my table looking at my wares. He then exclaimed, "Ken Scott! Are you Ken Scott?" I told him I was, introduced my self and asked if I could be of service. He then went on to tell me that he had spent most of the day before looking for a hunting pouch. during his search, three venders had shown him pouches and told him "This is just like a Ken Scott pouch." After the third man told him that, the gentleman told me he said "Maybe I should just find Ken Scott and get the real thing!"

What style pouches do you make?

I make traditional Eastern style, and Western Fur Trade style pouches, as well as French & Indian War and Revolutionary War pouches, and the large oversized Pennsylvania German game bags.  Just tell me the style of gun that you want your pouch to go with or the time period and the location you are trying to get a pouch for, and I can make one for you.

What type of materials do you make the pouches out of?

When I make a leather pouch, I use deer, elk, pig, cow, etc. depending on the style of pouch. These pouches are usually lined with linen, striped ticking, or fustian (an early fabric woven from linen and cotton). My pouches also feature either a leather strap or a woven linen and wool cloth strap. Both of these straps can feature a brass or iron buckle if needed.

My French & Indian War or pre-Revolutionary Wa cloth pouches are made with fustian or heavy linen, lined with linen, trimmed with deerskin. These pouches hold up well. They are rugged and very backwoods looking. I carry one of these pouches myself.

What prices are your pouches?

A basic pouch is very reasonably priced. I can make you a single pouch starting  at $495. A double pouch starts at $595. The large oversized Pennsylvania German game bags start at $800 and go up to arount $1200. My handmade haversacks start at around $400. Of course, the prices go up from there, depending on the workmanship and items needed on each pouch. PLEASE Contact me to discuss your particular pouch.

Do you have a catalog?

All of my hunting pouches are one of a kind and museum quality.  I don't have a catalog because, I don't make exact copies or duplicates of the pouches I make. My work has been featured videos, tv documentaries and numerous times in magazines and on their covers... Muzzle Blasts, Muzzleloader as well as in the Dixie Gunworks Black Powder Annual and the latest Book of Buck skinning.

What if I want a pouch that's fancier than normal?

No problem! Each pouch is handmade, so there can be dozens of options and details that can personalize the hunting pouch that I create for you. I offer countless patterns and options to choose from. Depending on the style or time period you are trying to recreate, I can add cutouts to the flap or other items. Sometimes I add a removable pocket to pouches that I make, (Call me for details on this,) I've seen it on some old originals. Removable pockets are $60. A woven or cloth strap is an additional $75. Other extras are priced accordingly.

Can you do put together a complete hunting outfit...,Pouch, horn and knife?

Sure. In fact a high number of the pouches I sell are complete sets. Horns, knives, small pouch axes, and other accoutrements are extra. I usually keep a few original and reproduction powder horns on hand. The prices on these horns run from about $100 on up. I also usually try to keep in stock a few hand forged , old style knives, pouch axes and powder measures, etc. Since these are handmade or original, one of a kind items, please call for prices and availability on the items you are interested in.
